Training & Membership
As we aim to provide our young members with practical training in the arts, we run classes throughout the year to facilitate this. At the heart of our work is a weekly three-hour drama workshop where young members learn a variety of performance based skills.

These skills will consist of:

- Acting technique
- Vocal technique
- Choral speech
- Story Telling
- Script development and creative writing
- Stage Combat
- Singing
- Music Production
- Performance poetry

- Sight-reading
- Accents and dialect
- Improvisation
- Producing a show
- Performing skills
- Audition and interview technique
- Body language
- Stanislavski techniques
- Brecht techniques

... And much more

Classes are generally run by our Artistic Director although we do regularly invite professionals from a variety of different arts backgrounds to supplement learning. Such learning may involve photography, music production, film making, camera work and acting for radio to name a few.

The classes shall operate like a school with the year's run of workshops being divided into "terms". The 08/09 year shall run like this:

Term 1:

October - December
Term 2: January - March
Term 3: April - August

At the end of each Term, students will be required to produce an artistic piece for an audience highlighting what they have learnt during that term. They may also be required to participate in certain "PROJECTS AND PRODUCTIONS" that often occur throughout the year.

Terms and conditions of membership and workshops
  • The Faith Drama Productions year usually begins on the first Wednesday of October each year and ends on the 31 st of August.
  • To apply to become a member, persons should first contact the a member of staff. An interview will then be arranged at our office where we will find out more about the applicant. If the applicant is an aspiring artist, they will be asked to prepare an audition piece. (further information will be given when an interview day is set)
  • Auditions/Recruitment for new members will occur during the month of September.
  • Generally, classes are held on Wednesday’s 6pm-9pm. However this day may change with prior notice.
  • Currently workshops and rehearsals are held at: The Hartley Centre, 267 Barking Road, London E6 1LB. However this may change with prior notice.
  • We do not charge a fee for membership, however members will be expected to find their own way to and from classes and may be required to purchase certain materials to aid workshops such as stationary, note books, Dictaphones etc
  • After completing a full year of training with FAITH Drama Productions, young members may be invited to come back as young members again if we feel they will benefit from this or we may ask them to come back as senior members.
  • Senior membership is obtained when we believe that an individual is growing within the programme and may need further challenges to enable them to succeed. A senior member may in addition or instead of their performance workshops be allowed to run workshops, learn directing skills, project management, admin, run projects and productions etc. A greater deal of responsibility is required as a senior member and so members are asked to think carefully before accepting this invitation. In the past senior members have gone on to work for FAITH Drama Productions on a full time or part time basis.
  • Senior members will be aged 17 or over.
  • Please note that those who have completed a year with FAITH Drama Productions will only participate in following years if they have been invited by staff.
  • No one is obligated to accept an invitation of FAITH membership.
  • If young members know they will be late or unable to attend a class, they must let a project coordinator know in advance where possible. Constant failure to do this may result in formal warnings followed by an expulsion from the programme
  • Once accepted as a member of FAITH Drama, we ask that people treat all members with equal respect, regardless of race, gender, creed, age or sexuality.
  • If a young member wants to leave the programme before a year is completed, we ask where possible to provide us with at least 2weeks notice.
